StealthPods™ FAQ

Find answers about installation, materials, compatibility, ordering, and support—all in one place.

Installation & Setup

How many shifters do I need on the front and rear?
Most vehicles use three front shifters and two rear. The Redline Ci 360c ships with five (upgradable to six). Redline CiC and ZR6 can expand based on vehicle width and protection goals.
Where should the transmitter be placed?
The transmitter must be centered in the front array. If using multiple transmitters, keep them centered and surrounded by transceivers. Ask your installer or contact us for model-specific layout.
Can I mix Fixed and Adjustable pods?
Yes. Many installs use Fixed pods in factory openings and Adjustable pods in angled or tight areas, maintaining correct aim and symmetry.
How precise does leveling need to be?
Level to within ±0.5° horizontally and vertically. Use the StealthPods™ Level Arm (provided by us) with the small bubble level included in your Escort hardware kit.
What if my bumper surface is angled?
Pods allow fine up/down and left/right adjustment. For severe angles, add shims to achieve the ±0.5° target.
What mounting methods do you recommend?
3M automotive tape, self-tapping screws, or a combination. Clean with rubbing alcohol, install at 70°F+, apply even pressure, and avoid wax or dressing under tape.
Do I level before or after tightening the jam screw?
Level first, verify aim, then tighten the bottom M10 jam screw to lock the spherical core. Finally, snap in the IR-pass acrylic lens.
How tight should I make the jam screw?
Only snug the M10 jam screw lightly—just enough to hold the center cylinder in place after leveling. Overtightening can strip the ASA threads and make the pod unusable.
Any cable routing tips?
Leave a small service loop at each pod, avoid sharp bends/edges, use automotive ties/clips, and re-check after panels are reinstalled.
Should I re-check alignment later?
Yes. Re-check after initial heat cycles, after any bumper work, and during regular service intervals.

Product & Materials

What is the pod material?
Pods are printed in ASA, which offers ABS-like strength with superior UV stability—ideal for exterior automotive use.
What does the IR-pass acrylic lens do?
It protects the shifter face while allowing IR to transmit. It snaps into the top/bottom detent rails on the pod’s front and sits flush.
What is the M12 jam screw for?
It locks the spherical adjustable center in position after you achieve level and aim.
Is there an ingress rating?
Pods include drainage paths and tight interfaces, but they are a mounting system—not a substitute for third-party ingress certification. Follow the device manufacturer’s guidance.
How do I clean or maintain the lens and pods?
Use mild soap and water or a plastic-safe cleaner. Avoid solvents that can haze acrylic. Do not polish with abrasive compounds.
Will the color fade in sunlight?
ASA is highly UV-stable. Normal surface care (cleaning/wax around but not on the tape zone) helps preserve appearance.

Compatibility & System Layout

Which Escort systems do you support?
StealthPods are designed around Escort Redline Ci 360c, Redline CiC, and ZR6. Layout and count depend on vehicle width and coverage needs.
Can StealthPods be used with other brands?
They’re engineered for Escort shifters. If you plan to adapt another brand, consult your installer and contact us to review dimensions and clearances.
Do you offer universal and vehicle-specific options?
Yes. We offer universal pods and vehicle-specific designs. Choose Fixed or Adjustable—or mix—to fit your bumper geometry.
How do I choose Fixed vs Adjustable?
Use Fixed where factory openings are already level/straight and space is tight. Use Adjustable where bumper surfaces are angled or irregular.
Do I need three front shifters minimum?
Yes, plan for at least three up front. On wider vehicles or for enhanced coverage, expand to additional front units and two rears.
