Materials & Construction

StealthPods™ are engineered for real-world automotive environments using UV-stable ASA, optional IR-pass acrylic protection, and a secure, serviceable architecture.

Core Materials

  • ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate): UV-stable, heat and chemical resistant; ideal for exterior automotive environments.
  • IR-Pass Acrylic Lens (optional): Protects the shifter face while allowing IR to transmit; press-fit with internal detents.
  • 304 Stainless Hardware (where used): Corrosion-resistant fasteners for long-term durability.
  • Automotive-grade VHB Tape: Industrial double-sided tape option for clean, robust mounting.
  • EPDM/Gasket Interface (as applicable): Helps damp vibration and improve environmental sealing.

Why ASA?

ASA combines ABS-like strength with superior UV resistance, making it ideal for exterior pods that face sunlight, heat cycles, and road contaminants.

Construction Features

  • Pressure-Fit Mounting: No internal bracket required; engineered interference fit for secure retention.
  • Front Retention Lip: Prevents the shifter from sliding forward without obstructing the sensor face.
  • Rear Locking Detents: Internal tabs help prevent rearward movement, keeping the device seated.
  • Optional IR-Pass Lens: Front lens is held by detents; easily serviceable.
  • Open Rear with Cable Slot: Clean cable management with a bottom-edge pass-through.

Manufacturing & Finish

  • Process: Precision FDM using ASA; tuned wall thickness and ribs for stiffness without excess weight.
  • Tolerances: Designed clearance/press-fit zones to account for print variance and thermal cycling.
  • Finish: Print-smoothed and de-burred contact areas; consistent exterior texture aligned to the brand look.
  • Mounting Methods: VHB tape, screws, or both—based on vehicle and installer preference.

Fixed vs Adjustable

Fixed: Vehicle-specific or universal pods pre-leveled by design for rapid installs and OEM-like appearance.

Adjustable: Internal leveling mechanism centers the shifter within the pod; once aimed and leveled, it is locked with a jam nut. This design provides micro-adjustability to suit challenging bumper geometries.

Compatibility

Rear pods typically mount near the license-plate zone (common police target area). Front pods are designed to sit discretely in bumper openings for optimal performance and minimal visual footprint.

Environmental Readiness

  • UV-stable ASA resists sunlight exposure and color shift.
  • Designed for thermal cycling and typical exterior automotive conditions.
  • Drainage paths and tight interfaces target water and dust mitigation.

Serviceability

Pods are designed for routine access—adjust, re-level, or replace components with minimal bumper intervention.

Materials & Construction — FAQ

Why choose ASA over ABS?
ASA offers ABS-like strength with significantly better UV resistance, ideal for exterior automotive use.
Does the retention lip block the shifter?
No. The lip is dimensioned so it prevents forward movement without intruding on the active sensor face.
How is the adjustable pod locked after leveling?
The adjustable assembly is secured with a jam nut once level and aim are set.
Mounting method?
VHB tape, screws, or both—based on vehicle surfaces and installer preference.
